Stroud was once at the heart of the busy wool trade with mills lining the canals and main roads.

Only a few remain today, but the rooms at The Clothiers Arms are named in honour of some of those lost giants.

The town centre, a quarter of a mile away, is a gentle five minute walk.

Independent traders and small open-air markets supplement the larger High Street shops, making wandering the town a relaxing and enjoyable experience.

Further a field, the Regency town of Cheltenham and the splendour of Bath are only a short drive away and for those who want to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life, the Cotswolds, with their natural beauty and quaint villages, lie on the doorstep.
